I’ve been asked to join a facebook group about offset guitars recently so I’ve been browsing through the pics of all the guitars I once owned to share them with this group, and I thought "hey why not make some kind of retrospective here on Tumblr ?"
So here it is: the 1st chapter in the “KOYL’S GUITARS HALL OF FAME” (aka: why the fuck did I sell this one ? and this one… and this one…)
So here is my first Jazzmaster, a MIJ one bought on eBay from a guy in the UK. Mint condition.
I upgraded it with Curtis Novak pickups (a vintage voiced one in the neck position and a P90 voiced one in the bridge position), a US tremolo, vintage (NOS) white witch hats and, most importantly, a Sonic Youth sticker of the “Dirty” album cover.
There’s a song called “Sugar Kane” on this album, it’s about Marilyn Monroe, so I called the guitar “Norma Jean" which is Marilyn real first name.
This guitar was really awesome: sounded great, stayed in tune, a breeze to play but I ended up selling it to buy.. something else, a one-of-a-king guitar.. but that’s another story that I’ll share later on…
You can hear it all over the first record of my old ambient/noise and 100% improvised project “Le Principe d’Inconstance”
(I have many more guitar pics and story to share, mainly offsets so stay tuned !)
